Introducing the Green Report

Members of e-mom rewards (like you) have told us they appreciate being sent content and information that is relevant to them, be it while pregnant, shortly after having a child and on into the child raising years.

In response to our members, e-mom rewards is proud to present the first edition of the e-mom Green Report. The Green Report will cover several issues of importance to you and your family. Today's report focuses on the air quality in your home.

Is the Air in your Home Kid Healthy?

we have all heard about the variety of problems with air quality in our homes. Carpets trap a ton of dust and dust mites. Flu viruses on doorknobs, counter tops, etc. Flu viruses are carried by babies and kids far more than by adults.

The reality is ... the air in our homes is probably far worse than we thought. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published the below three statements in the past year:

"Indoor Air can be up to 5 times worse than outdoor air"
-EPA

"Indoor air pollution is America's Number One Environmental Health Concern"
-EPA

"50% of all illness is caused by indoor air pollution."
-EPA

Studies from major universities including Harvard, Brigham Young and Columbia have all came out with the same conclusions. Dateline and 60 minutes have given prime time reports on the subject. National publications like below have made it their cover stories:

We Americans spend 90 percent of our time indoors and often the quality of air is worse than what we find outdoors. Homes and commercial buildings are sealed so well that despite circulation by heating and cooling systems, odors and particulates swirl around with nowhere to go-but your lungs. Respiratory problems including asthma and allergies are on the rise and can be attributed, in part, to mold and mildew spores; outgassing from synthetic fiber used in building materials and carpet; pet hair and dander; outdoor pollens that become trapped indoors; and inadequately vented cooking and food odors.

In addition, the average 1,500 sq. foot home will produce 40 lbs of dust annually, a major cause of allergic reactions in kids. Many of the contents of the common cleaners in your home have been found to be extremely hazardous to the health of children and adults. Don't expose your family to these chemicals one more day. Below learn more about chemical-free ways to sanitize your home.
